Water Product Questions
"How much will it cost to run a fountain, aerator or De-Icer?"
"A 0.5 hp 120V Aerator, Fountain or De-Icer running 24 hours per day at a electricity rate of 5 cents per KWH will usually cost about one (1) dollar per day. Timers are included with some models and are available for all Aerators, Fountains and De-Icers to cut down on electricity costs by having the unit run only at specified times. "
How does the De-Icer work?
"The De-Icer's high speed motor driven propeller brings the warmer deep water to the surface, maintaining open water. This will prevent your docks or boathouse from becoming damaged by the Ice. You can also use a De-Icer to maintain open water for water fowl and fish in your pond during the winter months. "
What do I do with a Fountain/Aerator in the winter time?
Fountains need to be removed from the water in the winter months to prevent damage to the unit. If a fountain is left in the water ice build-up could potentially cause the unit to become damaged. The Fountain should be placed in a bucket of water in a heated location during the winter to ensure the Motor stays lubricated. Aerators should be removed from the water during the winter months and stored the same as a fountain unless a de-icing kit has been purchased and the unit is being used as an Ice-Away, to prevent ice damage to docks and boathouses.
Why would I need a Fountain or Aerator for my pond?
Fountains and aerators are excellent additions to any pond. To improve water quality The Mirage Aerator will move large amounts of water leaving your pond crystal clear and stagnant free. When aesthetics is your forte, a floating fountain makes a wonderful water feature. Both fountains and aerators are extremely beneficial to aquatic life and will adorn your pond.
Will a fountain or aerator harm the fish in my pond?
Fountains and Aerators will not harm any wildlife found in or around your pond. Aerating your pond will only make for a nicer habitat for wildlife and keep the water crystal clear.
