How do I maintain my pond in the summertime?
As summer temperatures become more consistent the pond water begins to rise in temperature. Warm water does not contain as much oxygen as cooler water. If you have fish, the warm water holds less oxygen, and the fish will require more so they don’t struggle to breathe.
It is important to maximize your aeration by extending your fountain or pond aerator run times. If you start to experience algae blooms or they are persisting; keep your fountain or aerator pump running 24hrs daily in the heat of the summer. If you have a shallow lake or pond then more aeration is a must.
